Welcome to Black Kite Brewing! We hope you’re enjoying the café and we’re thrilled that so many of you have shown such an interest in the brewery. Here’s a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) and our responses. If there’s anything else you’d like to know, please e-mail us at hello@bkbrewing.co.uk and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

Q: When are you going to start brewing?
A: We have already started! We had some intial inevitable delays getting the various licences and registrations sorted out. But we've been test brewing since March, and currently have two beers available, bottle conditioned or available in cask.

Q: What types of beer will you be brewing?
A: With any luck, there’ll be something for everyone. We are starting with a small range of core beers - a bitter, a pale, and a dark beer - and will build from there. As a group, we like a wide variety of beers so we will venture into more adventurous styles, like sours.

Q: How much beer are you going to be making?
A: As much as we can sell! We can brew about 3000 litres on brewing days which initially should mean up to 6000 litres a month. Currently we are focussing on smaller batches to fine tune our recipes whilst we build a market.

Q: Do you sell cask, bottled or canned beers?
A: In a word, yes! You can find our cask beers in a number of East Kent's brilliant micropubs, on sale in bottles at the brewery during café opening hours for consumption on or off the premises, and eventually we will be canning some of our smaller batch beers.

Q: Who’s doing the brewing?
A: Our Head Brewer, Richard, is leading the charge, with a team of helpers who make up for in enthusiasm what they lack in experience!

Q: Will you be making anything other than beer?
A: Just beer for the foreseeable future.

Q: Where can we find your beers?
A: We’re selling to local pubs and micropubs. If there are any places you know that you think might be interested, please do let us know and we’ll have a chat with them.

Q: Will there be a taproom?
A: Yes - we’re hoping to use the café as a taproom on evenings and / or weekends (timings tbc) once we’re up and running. Watch this space!
