Black Kite Brewing

Welcome to Black Kite Brewing! We hope you’re enjoying the café and we’re thrilled that so many of you have shown such an interest in the brewery. Here’s a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs) and our responses. If there’s anything else you’d like to know, please e-mail us at hello@bkbrewing.co.uk and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
Q: When are you going to start brewing?
A: As soon as possible! We’ve only recently taken over the premises and there are various licences and registrations to sort out.
We’re hoping to get up and running very shortly and are aiming to be brewing in January.
Q: What types of beer will you be brewing?
A: With any luck, there’ll be something for everyone. We’re planning to start with a small range of core beers - most likely a bitter,
a pale, and a dark beer - and to go from there. As a group, we like a wide variety of beers so we will venture into more adventurous styles, like sours.
Q: How much beer are you going to be making?
A: As much as we can sell! We can brew about 3000 litres on brewing days which initially should mean up to 6000 litres a month.
Q: Will you be doing bottled or canned beers?
A: In a word, yes! Once all the necessary licences are in place we’ll be able to sell beer for consumption on or off the premises.
Q: Who’s doing the brewing?
A: Our Head Brewer, Richard, will be leading the charge, with a team of helpers who make up for in enthusiasm what they lack in experience!
Q: Will you be making anything other than beer?
A: Just beer for the foreseeable future.
Q: Where can we find your beers?
A: We’re hoping to sell to local pubs and micropubs. If there are any places you know that you think might be interested, please do let us know and we’ll have a chat with them.
Q: Will there be a taproom?
A: Yes - we’re hoping to use the café as a taproom on evenings and / or weekends (timings tbc) once we’re up and running. Watch this space!
